flower cluster tee

a little t-shirt restyle. i forgot to take a before picture but it was just your basic run-of-the-mill t-shirt.

i cut off the neckline, the bottom few inches (the shirt was so long it look like maternity) and shortened the sleeves. i used elastic thread to gather the neckline and sleeves.

the flower cluster was something i made last winter using this tutorial. it just happened to match the t-shirt perfectly.

part of DIY Day.

That is gorgeous! I can sew, but I don't do clothing. That is a true talent. Maybe I'll try a detail like that on a pillow. Thanks for the inspiration!

too cute! I love this idea. I think the gathered neck and sleeves really make it something special and a little more dressy.

Love it! I sew a little but I'm not sure what you mean when you say you used elastic thread to gather the neckline. Did you just hand sew it and then pull? Or is there a way to do it with a machine?

So cute!
I bought some elastic thread at the fabric store becuase all these t shirts are just so cute. But I'm afraid to use it. Sad, huh?

You my friend are amazing. It is so funny I came home from an afternoon taking the sisters shopping and at Anthropologie I fell in love with a necklace that had very similar flower clusters and decided that I would make the necklace myself. Then I came home to find your post and the links and I am set! Perfect timing! :) Keep it coming.
