this monthly picture thing is starting to get difficult...

Gemma is six days shy of seven months and after several attempts I still don't have a decent six month picture of her.

Do you have a secret trick to keep an active baby still? Do tell, please!

I have no tips. But, she is absolutely adorable.

drug her. ha ha. kidding, of course. maybe take the picture while Michael is distracting her or something so she holds still? I kind of think this picture is perfect because it marks how she's suddenly so mobile and active.

Take it when she's asleep? ;)

Take a photo while she is asleep?!

Enlist an older sibling to distract her. Then use the rapid action setting on your camera. It could be cute seeing her on her tummy with the letters around her. Someone could be on the floor with her out of camera view. It would show off her new active mobility too.

She's so cute!! I have the best success when my daughter hasn't been awake for too long (ie not tired), has a clean diaper, and a full tummy but hasn't gotten too wound up yet if that makes any sense. Also, using the sport setting or quick shutter speed. :)

Either take the photos while she's asleep or get used to it - 'cause she's just going to get faster. ;)

I love that she's moving all over. It her personality!

Just after having milk while they are still content is usually a good shot. They always have that cute little smile when they look up at you.

I had a couple of suggestion but they have already been give. How about granma comes and distracts her?????

Haha. Still like that with my kids and they're a lot older. : ) Just gotta set that shutter speed to really fast!

We just had this problem yesterday taking pics of our daughter Violet, who is nine months old. It gets harder every month! Having my husband help makes a big difference. He holds up favorite toys to get her to look in the right direction and keeps her from crawling off the rocking chair that we've put her on each month. Also, I'm having to let go of the idea that each month I'll have a great picture, and am deciding to accept that the weird pictures are just part of the fun of seeing how she's changing and developing. Good luck!

I think these pics are cuter than any still baby pic could be!

PS. my son has never had a still moment in his life...well, actually he has been pretty still lately as the poor dear broke his leg! (trampoline). ;-(

I absolutely love the fact that she's all over the place in these! It's very typical of her age and (I'm assuming) is more "her" than a posed pic would be! I say roll with it. :) She's darling.

Just keep trying. For my last 2 kids I managed to get a pic a month for the first 12 months. Some of them are less than ideal, but well represent growth. (Here is a collage of them if you are interested: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q05SB-QUVDo/TmPWTEvG9PI/AAAAAAAAHbM/aeSdC2ap0L4/s1600/1-12.JPG )
