halloween 2011

This is what my kids looked like when they left the house this morning. Great costumes, right? Kidding. The kids aren't allowed to wear Halloween costumes to school. It is disruptive to learning, apparently. Actually, I am sure it is disruptive to learning but, come on, it's only one day! They have still had lots of Halloween fun though. We went to the 'Trunk or Treat' at Church on Saturday and this afternoon we will be going to Michael's office for trick or treating and we'll make the rounds around the neighborhood tonight too.

Here they all are in their costumes at the Trunk or Treat:

Liam is a magician. I bought the hat at Party City. I made the cape and the bow tie and painted a wooden dowel for a wand.

Sutton is a fairy. Costume purchased at Costco. This is Sutton's first time wearing make-up. She looks way too grown up!

Ez as a fireman. Costume purchased at a second hand store for a few bucks.

Gemma is a cute little cow! Another Costco costume!

I kind of loved not sewing all the costumes myself this year. It was so easy and relaxed and everybody was happy!

Happy Halloween!

I love them all! I love Liam's stance in his costume, I love Gemma as a cow. I've never wanted to cuddle a cow quite so much. And you're right - Sutton does look too grown up (though nowhere near the Toddlers & Tiara's level!). Ez is the classic firefighter. It's nice to know that costumes haven't changed that much since we were kids, you know? Sure there are always the current trend, but you'll always find kids dressed like fairies, animals, civil servants (cops, firefighters, etc). I love it. I hope we get lots of kids by tonight!

They're so cute! I miss the days of wearing costumes to school too. So sad our children won't know the fun of parading around school and going from to class to class trick or treating. Have a great night! xo.

Awwww so cute! I love Sutton in the makeup..such pretty eyes. :) I've never tried sewing a costume for Julia..I think I would stress myself out too much by trying to make sure everything was absolutely perfect.

I love that you didn't make it all! It makes you much more "real" and even that much more endearing! Your kids look great, and hooray for a low-stress Halloween! Happy Halloween!!
