new(ish) lamp

I purchased this lamp at Salvation Army for $5.99. The shade came from a local discount retailer for $4.99. It had a nice shape but was covered in a ugly velvet-like stripe.

I took the lamp apart, cleaned it and primed it. I also removed the fabric off the lamp shade and recovered it with white cotton that I already had on hand.

After the primer was all the way dry, I spray painted the lamp parts a several coats of soft yellow. The paint cost $3.89. Once the yellow was dry a gave it a coat of clear gloss.

A unique lamp for less than $15!

Okay, we have a few lamps given to us by Eric's parents so I'll have to get some tips on the spray painting. Your lamps, candlesticks and catch-all dish turned out really cute.

How has this paint job held up? I would love to do some spray painting but have always been concerned that, even with the proper preparations, it would flake.

Diana- The lamp hasn't chipped or flaked at all. It's been over a year and I looks the same as in these pictures- albeit a little dusty! :)
