green lamp

my lamp collection is growing! this one is my latest. it was purchased at Goodwill for $6 and the shade was purchased at Old Time Pottery for $7. i used "avocado" by krylon.

the color is aptly named- same color as all the appliances in the '60's and '70's. that's why i love it!

i also spray painted that little lidded box!

have you caught the spray painting bug? tell me or leave a link in the comments- i would love to see what you have painted!

Your lamp looks great. I spray paint just about anything that will stand still!!

What type of spray paint did you use on the shiny gold surface of the lamp? I have been wanting to re-do a lamp but haven't come across one that I love yet. I wasn't sure if spray paint would run on a shiny surface but it looks nice and smooth on your lamp.

VERY nice! I love that color.

tales- me too! haha.

i used a primer and krylon spray paint for the lamp. i did not sand the lamp just cleaned all the parts with a damp rag and let dry then prime and paint.

I just spray painted my fireplace....got rid of the sweet gold piece...and I LOVE it. I don't have my pics posted quite yet, but should by tonight. I turned my sister on to spray painting (she had gold fans in 3 rooms of her home...now they are silver) before I ever picked up a can...now I can't put them down. LOVE IT and love that green!

I love that! Great idea! I need a lamp for Paris' room and now I know how I can make it really easily and cheap.

You already know I'm addicted to spray paint, though I have been slightly more obsessed with cooking and baking lately than finding projects for my house. Your green lamp looks awesome!
I have spray painted frames, mirrors, lamps, candlesticks, tables, etc.

I love it - I really love it with that shade. I always spray paint my frames. I love big chunky ones, and they are never in the color I want!

Do you spray on the primer also, or does that have to be painted on?

Erin said...

jill,
i use a spray primer too. for this lamp i actually used an automobile primer (the store was out of the regular stuff). it worked fine, maybe even better then the regular stuff!

This lamp is so cute! I was thinking of doing something similar for my metal lamp. How did you prime it or did you use spray paint that is for metal?
