wheat grass

I grew my own wheat grass! I don't know what I am going to do with it though. I have a lot... six pots. I love how it looks. It is so fresh and spring-y. I think I will just keep it in the house for looks.

There are a lot of health benefits to wheat grass but you have to have a special wheat grass juicer. Do any of you drink wheatgrass juice?

It was incredibly easy (and fast) to grow. I followed the directions I found here at Make and Takes. I wish it was as easy to grow grass in my back yard!

That is so awesome! Love the IKEA pots =)
My fiance has been wanting to drink wheatgrass juice (they sell shots of it for $2 at Jamba), so we bought some wheatgrass at the fancy natural food store, and tried to juice it with our juicer. It was only partially successful but we ended up blending it with oranges. It's supposed to be super good for you, but you have to have a specific-to-wheatgrass juicer. They sell them online for not too much, we ought to get one. Yummy!

Oooh they look great! I'm not so into the whole juice thing unless it's sugary sweet(!), but I like the grass for looks alone!

Yep, I just planted some about 3 days ago. I love having fresh grass growing inside the house :) Yay spring!

I tried to grow wheat grass, but it just got moldy. I threw it out after 3 days. I followed the makes & takes directions...but I used storage wheat. I think it was too old. I had grand plans for a lovely table decoration. Maybe next Easter.

That looks great! I'll have to try that and will definitely look further into the health benefits too! :)

I should be doing this too...since I'm still hearing threats of snow and my grass won't be growing and turning green any time soon:(

I love the way it looks! I bet my kids would get so into this!

That looks so fresh and welcoming in the pot. I have never drank it, but I do remember always being intrigued by it at Jamba Juice. Hey, wonder if it's something I need to add to my cancer-busting list of things to eat. I also wonder why you can't just blend it in a blender. hmmm...

I chop it up and add it to my green smoothies in the morning. No juicer. It's just like chopping chives. Love the pictures!

Your grass is so springy and it looks great! That would never work in my house, though. My cats would eat it up and probably get out a lot of dirt in the process. And if the cats didn't make a mess of it, my 2 boys would. Love the idea of growing it for use at Easter. I can imagine a gorgeous basket of live grass with some dyed eggs in it as a table decoration.

I used to drink wheat grass shots when I worked at Jamba Juice. They taste like freshly mowed grass. I actually like it a lot.

I grew some too, thanks to Make & Takes! We juiced it in our juicer. You cut it and ball it up to make it easier to juice. It tastes not-too-bad, actually! :)

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!! I want to decorate my table for Mother's Day with small pots of grass.....I just love the fresh springy look it gives. A plus is that my girls will LOVE to do this with me!!! I got on a wheat grass "shot" kick for some time but it got too expensive to buy it through out the week. I have a juicer and the above comment about cutting it up and forming it into a ball was great advice.....I didn't think I could use my regular juicer! I've said it before but just LOVE your blog!!!

I have tried Wheat Grass and don't recommend drinking it as a straight shot. Matter of fact I don't recommend drinking it at all. I drank it once for a friend who was gravely depressed over his failed marriage (and yes he had an industrial strength juicer). The rest of the day I had the burps that smelled and tasted like fresh cut lawn. Oh it was so aweful, I wanted to puke every time and it made my dance lesson that day miserable. Enjoy the beauty but don't drink the stuff!
