is it too early...

to decorate for Christmas??

I have always followed the rule of "no Christmas before Thanksgiving" but this year I am dying to get out my Christmas bins and infuse my little house with some Christmas cheer! I love the glow of the lights, the smell of goodies baking and the warmth of homes at Christmastime. This time of year I long for a (working) fireplace. Preferably one with a switch! :)

I tend to stick to the classic red and green color scheme and I have a few Christmas decor projects already started. I can't wait to share them with you!

If you celebrate Christmas, when do you start decorating? What is your favorite/most meaningful decoration?

We wait until after Thanksgiving. My husband actually LOVES Thanksgiving, and I don't want him to feel short-changed.

Since we are having family come in from out of town for Thanksgiving, we hope to have "some" decorations up and in place prior to their arrival. We never get to spend Christmas with them so this might be fun to have them see how we decorate a bit and enjoy the time together.

we go the day after turkey day and cut down our tree....the rest gets decorated in the days following that! i too love christmas and everything about it!!! when you asked the question of what is your favorite decoration the 1st thing that popped into my mind was a strong big metal nail that is hanging from a red ribbon. my mom gifted it to me years ago. it tells the story of jesus dying for our sins and what christmas is all about. as a family before we put any ornaments on the tree we tuck that nail back into the inner part of the tree, so that only the 4 of us know its there! it's an awesome reminder of what this year is all about!!

I am feeling the exact same way! I usually don't want to do it this early, but maybe it's b/c it's been cold here lately, I just feel like decorating for Christmas. I did plant an Amaryllis bulb this week so it would bloom for Xmas so I feel like I did some holiday decorating. :)

yes, it's too early to decorate. :) i usually do it the weekend after Thanksgiving.

we don't celebrate Christmas in the religious sense, but we decorate.

my favorite decorations are the ornaments we have picked up (and friends have picked up) over the years on our vacations. i seldom buy any other souvenir besides something I can hang from our tree. i love getting them out each year and remembering our trips.

Even though I'm not decorating yet, I've started to listen to Christmas music. My favorite decoration is my Santa collection. I've collected most of them at the thrift store or yard sales.

I feel the same, and I've never been big on Christmas. Maybe it's because I'm a mum for the first time, or maybe it's because I'm so far from home (China). We don't celebrate thanksgiving so I think now is the perfect time to decorate. In fact, I'm off to find decorations today!

I am feeling the need to decorate as well, but I'm trying to restrain myself. :)

The day after Thanksgiving for sure! Twinkling lights, the smell of cinnamon and evergreen, Bing Crosby...I could go on and on. LOVE IT!

So excited for the holidays. I'm completely unprepared, but excited nonetheless. Oh, and I decorate the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Traditionally.

my tree is already up! I figure all the work to get all the Christmas stuff out, might as well enjoy it more than 4 weeks.
