yarn pillow

I had purchased several skeins of yarn to make yarn eggs but then I realized that Easter is only a few days away. I'm too late to decorate this year! I didn't want all that pretty yarn to sit unused for a whole year so I picked a few spring-y colors...

Cut them slightly longer than the top piece of my pillow...

Sewed over each end and the center to anchor the yarn...

Then stitched back and forth many times with coordinating thread. Trimmed the yarn...

Sewed the back pieces to the front. Turned it right side out and popped in a pillow. Easy peasy!

I'm loving the texture!

Such a fun idea, and I'm in desperate need of some updated throw pillows. The stitching really MAKES it.

Do you think it would handle the washing machine? I'm doing a crazy baby blanket, and that would look so cool as a section!

That is amazing! I have never seen something like this, what a fabulous idea! Also, a good way for me to use up all the yarn I bought when I had visions of becoming a great knitter...

I am not sure how it will do in the wash. The yarn is really stitched down. I don't think it's going anywhere. Maybe I will throw it in the wash today and see how it does...
