five things friday

In an effort to share more of me on this blog I am copying my SIL and countless others in doing a weekly "five things friday" post. Here goes!

Fall has hit Charlotte suddenly. Yesterday was in the mid-80's today's high was 61. The sky is overcast and the air feels crisp and clean. Finally time to break out the cardigans! Welcome Fall!

.....

I am baking sugared pecans to top a salad that I am taking to a friends for dinner tonight. Thanks to the  cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg it smells like Fall inside my house too!

.....

I have officially started my Christmas shopping. I bought vintage fashion plates off eBay. I had a set as a girl and LOVED it. Let's hope Sutton does too. I also bought a few stocking stuffers (books, flash cards, journals) at the dollar spot at Target. Everything I got was 70% off. Thirty cents a piece. Score!

.....

Tomorrow morning we are going apple picking. This is one of my favorite things to do with my family, I look forward to it all year!

.....

I am in a sewing/creative slump. I have so many projects in the works but just don't feel the motivation to work on any of them. Do you ever have the crafting blues? How do break out of it??

.....

Do you do 'five things friday'? Leave a link or your five things in the comments, I'd love to know what your up to too!

Happy Weekending!

Yes, I do 5 Things Friday...but you already linked to mine at the top of your post. :)
I loved fashion plates as a kid! How fun!
I rarely craft, so I don't get the blues but I do sometimes get manic where I want to do nothing but DIY crafty stuff.

I too am in a crafting slump...hence the lack of posts on my blog! I am so glad to hear I am not the only one! Right now, there are so many other things that seem more interesting and entertaining in life! If you figure out how to pull yourself out of it, let me know!

Also, I had fashion plates when I was a little girl and LOVED them! I have a feeling they will be a big hit with your daughter! Brilliant idea!

Have fun apple picking! When I hit a crafting slump, I try to enjoy a little break and/or look at my to sew list and/or finish the project that's closest to being finished so it feels like a big accomplishment and/or clean my house. My family probably wishes I did the latter most often. :)

You know, I forgot about those fashion plates. I had them as a kid as well and spent many hours pretending to be a fashion designer. They were really fun to play with. I don't recall how I found your blog but I really enjoy reading it! :)

Wow! The fashion plates were popular for sure. My sisters and I also shared a set. Ahh....the 80s were good : ).

To get out of my sewing slump, I often will turn my attention for at least a few days to another household project I've wanted to get to. After doing something else and very different, I often find I want to sew again. Also, theres nothing like getting crafty inspiration from a library book, instead of from online. Or.....clean out your sewing space.....organizing all those scraps may lead to some inspiration after all!

Holy Trip Down Memory Lane!! I had those Fashion Plates too! I haven't thought of them in years. Gotta love the 80's fashion. I'm sure she'll love them.

Those fashion plates were my favorite! That's a great idea for a gift. I'll have to see if I can hunt mine down or find a new set. Can't believe it's already almost October. Happy Fall!

I have a set of Fashion Plates I picked up a thrift store years ago that I now am holding onto for my daughter. She is only 2.5 this Christmas so I think I will wait a little longer. Though, toddlers do love rubbing plates so she might be kinda ready for them. Thanks for reminding me I have them tucked away in a closet.
