refashioned:: long sleeved blouse to bolero

when i saw this refashion last week i was instantly smitten. i figured i had something in my closet i could use to give it a try BUT during a spur of the moment trip to goodwill yesterday i spied a silk blouse in the most lovely shade of porcelain blue that was in perfect condition. i was in luck, it was my size and only $3!

i bought ready made ruffle from hobby lobby (30% off!) and i used scraps to make bias tape to finish the new short sleeves. it was a quick and easy project and i love the way it turned out. my husband, on the other hand, told me (in a very loving way) that i looked like i should be working at a mexican restaurant.

please tell me-- what is your honest opinion?

bolero - si or no?

it's called a bolero for a reason, right? I mean, they probably wear something like this in mexican restaurants. however, i think the fabric and details you chose make it look feminine and pretty. If you chose black bedazzled fabric with a red ruffle, then i might see Michael's point. But this? It's darling!

This is lovely! When I first saw it, I instantly thought of Jane Austin. Therefore, it can't possibly be remotely like a Mexican restaurant uniform :)

It's beautiful!
I tried altering a piece of lingere one time, and was very excited to wear it for my hubby. But when I stepped out of the bathroom he started crying he was laughing so hard. He said I looked like the tooth fairy. I guess maybe I went overboard with ribbon and lace...

I wish I owned one! This is the perfect solution for the dresses that don't cover quite enough in the shoulder area, or have straps. If I had one of these, I could just wear it, and then be able to wear my strappy dresses to church. :)
