I did a quick search for 'free nightgown pattern' and some how found my way to this site and this dress tutorial. The dress is adorable and without the elastic around the waist it works perfect for nightgowns also. I have made many peasant style tops and dresses for myself and Sutton in the past but this tutorial may be the simplest I have seen and comes together very quickly!
I made each one slightly different. The blue jersey with the scalloped edge was the first attempt and it was a little big, but it's okay because she'll be able to wear it for years. I made the floral nightgowns a little smaller and each have a ruffle at the bottom. All the material was given to my by my mother-in-law, in fact, the peachy-pink floral is a vintage bed sheet. Sutton thinks the nightgowns are fantastic and wants to wear them all day!

Adorable! I have used the peasant dresses for nightgowns, too. I LOVE them. Yours got pretty fancy! Your daughter is so lucky--I'm going to be sure mine don't know their nightgowns could get so fancy! :)
I love the nightgowns! My daughter loves them too. There's a great tutorial for making one out of pillowcases that has SLEEVES. It's on gingercake...in case you need to make one more.

@joy- i gathered the top and sleeves of the dresses with "shirring", using elastic thread in the bobbin.

These are the sweetest! I bet your little Sutton feels so special. I have been wanting to make some new pj's for my girls. I keep hearing how easy pj bottoms are so I thought I'd start with those, but you've inspired me to maybe take a leap and try a nightgown instead. I'll let you know how it goes. . .
I have a few vintage sheets I have been wanting to make into nightgowns for my 3 girls, but have lacked the confidence without a pattern. I'll have to try this!

Love! My ballerinas love to wear nightgowns but now with the flame retardant requirements it makes it impossible to find cozy cotton ones. I would love to make them some. I need a simpler pattern though. That shirring is wayyyyy beyond me.

I have the same issue with pajamas. They are pricey and only slept in. I have a couple old sheets that I was thinking of doing just this with. Love yours!
