christmas treat boxes

I stayed up late last night assembling the treat boxes. Each baggie has about 4-7 pieces (depending on size) of candy- basically a nice sampling. With as much candy that is consumed this time of year, I thought going with less is a good idea. The plan was to put the fudge, marshmallows, peanut brittle and peppermint bark in each box but the boxes were too small. I could barely squeeze three of the four treats into each box. I have used these take-out boxes for the last five years but this is the first time I have used the pint sized boxes. It worked out well though, I am taking all the left overs to the ward party tonight. Which is good because I am sick of being in the kitchen!

I opted for simple this year. Red box and a Martha Stewart tag tied on with bakers twine.

Now it is time to get out of my pajamas and deliver the treats!

I just wrapped up my treats today and each plate has about 10 cookies on it. I was worried about them being too small, but glad you've got my back.

Such a great idea! I happen to have some red take out boxes that I bought on clearence after the 4th of July. I hadn't even thought about how perfect they would be for Christmas! Thanks for the inspiration!
And those marshmallows you made look terrific! I'm definitely going to make some now!

I was only able to fit 4 cookies (2 different kinds) and 4 small squares of fudge. That seemed to be enough for a small sampler. They are a big hit and much easier than trying to find a small gift for all our friends! Thanks for the idea - can't wait to try your marshmallows!

i loved our little take-out box of goodies-- the perfect amount for a sample for everyone! i can't believe how organized you are to already have that all done. . . and to have your little elves deliver them for you!

Those boxes look perfectly festive. And, my ballerinas would be all over those marshmallows. We made the Hershey's kiss,M&M, pretzel treats last night for the neighbors. I love a treat the kids can do basically on their own. They feel so "grown up" and I get a break from baking.

Question: What are your kitchen countertops made of? They're black, right?

You're putting me to shame, Erin. Big time. And those treats sound wonderful-- I'm kinda wishing I was one of your neighbors now...

kim- our counters are custom laminate. they look pretty great for being so cheap! because we had a guy custom build them (my GC bro-in-law "knows a guy") there is only one (well hidden) seam in the kitchen. oh, and the counters are actually a dark gray. the name is graphite.

steph- i wish you were my neighbor too. oh what fun we would have!
